Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 3, 2026

1. What This Policy Covers

This Cookie Policy explains how Rainbow Magic Fairy Name Finder uses cookies and similar technologies, including browser local storage, pixels, tags, and web beacons. It also explains the choices available to visitors, parents, and guardians.

This site is an independently operated fan-made service. For more information about the data we process and the providers we use, see our Privacy Policy.

2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

A cookie is a small text file that a website or third-party service may place on a browser. Session cookies normally expire when the browser session ends. Persistent cookies remain until their stated expiration date or until they are deleted.

Similar technologies include local storage, which lets a website save information in a browser; pixels and web beacons, which can record that content was loaded; and device or browser identifiers used for security, analytics, or advertising. Blocking cookies does not necessarily prevent a provider from receiving ordinary request data such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, or date and time.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies Used on This Website

Strictly Necessary Technologies

The public fairy-name finder does not require a cookie. A first name entered into the finder and the resulting fairy match remain in the current page's browser memory and are not intentionally submitted to our server or saved in a session cookie.

The site has account and payment-related routes that may use the following first-party cookie when those features are used:

  • __session — keeps an authenticated account session connected to the correct browser. It is marked HTTP-only and SameSite Strict, is available across the site, and may remain for up to 30 days unless the user signs out or the cookie is deleted earlier.

Hosting, network, and security providers may also process short-lived identifiers or ordinary request information when needed to deliver the site, balance traffic, prevent abuse, and diagnose faults. The exact identifier names and durations can change as those providers update their security services.

Necessary session and security technologies are used to provide or protect a feature. Blocking them may prevent sign-in, account, payment, or security functionality from working, but should not prevent use of the public fairy-name finder.

Functional Local Storage

The Books reading checklist uses browser local storage rather than a cookie:

  • rainbow-magic-book-catalog-checklist-v2 — stores only the checklist identifiers selected on that device so reading progress can reappear on a later visit. It remains until the checklist is reset, the site's storage is cleared, or the browser removes it.

This checklist information stays in that browser and is not used to personalize advertising. If local storage is blocked or cleared, the checklist still works for the current page session but its progress may not persist.

The consent banner stores cookie_consent_v1 in browser local storage with the value accepted or rejected. This preference is used in the browser to decide whether non-essential analytics and advertising services may load. It is not a name, email address, advertising identifier, or account credential.

Advertising Technologies

When advertising is enabled in the site configuration and you select Accept, the site may load Google AdSense and Adsterra. These providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, IP address information, browser or device information, the viewed page, approximate location, and ad-interaction data to deliver and measure advertisements, limit repeated ads, maintain security, and detect invalid or fraudulent activity.

Google AdSense is requested in non-personalized ads mode before an ad request is made. Non-personalized ads are not selected from a visitor's past browsing behavior, but they are not necessarily cookie-free. Google explains that contextual information and identifiers may still be used for functions such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention. See Google's non-personalized ads guidance and partner-sites notice.

Adsterra's embedded advertising script may use its own technologies for ad delivery and measurement. Exact cookies, partners, purposes, and lifetimes are controlled by that provider and may change. See Adsterra's Cookie Policy. We do not send the first name entered in the finder or the resulting fairy match to either advertising provider for ad targeting.

Analytics Technologies

When analytics is enabled in the site configuration and you select Accept, the site may load the following services after the main page has loaded:

  • Google Analytics — measures page visits, traffic sources, device and browser categories, and general use of the site. Google Analytics may use cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container-id> to distinguish visits. Google states that IP addresses are used during collection for location information and discarded before the data is logged.
  • Microsoft Clarity — provides aggregated interaction and usability information. Its typical configuration may use cookies such as _clck and _clsk to connect page views into visits and produce aggregated analytics. See Microsoft's Clarity cookie documentation.
  • Pageview — measures page traffic using the current page address, referrer, and ordinary browser request information.

Analytics helps us understand which pages are useful, identify technical problems, and improve navigation. We do not intentionally send the first name entered in the finder or its fairy result as an analytics event. Provider cookie names, collection behavior, and retention periods may change, so their current documentation and account settings are authoritative.

4. Children's Privacy

Rainbow Magic Fairy Name Finder is a fan-created reference resource intended primarily for parents, educators, collectors, and other fans of the Rainbow Magic book series. Fans of all ages, including children under 13, may also use the public fairy-name finder.

The public finder does not require an account or personal information. It does not request dates of birth, schools, precise locations, email addresses, or other contact details, and names and lookup queries entered into the finder are processed in the browser rather than intentionally sent to our servers.

Under the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule, a persistent identifier can be personal information even when it does not directly state a child's name. The rule permits limited uses that support a site's internal operations, such as authentication, site analytics, contextual advertising, frequency capping, security, and legal compliance, but not behavioral advertising. See the Federal Trade Commission's COPPA guidance.

Because children may use the public finder, this policy does not describe advertising or analytics identifiers as "non-personal" merely because they are pseudonymous. Google AdSense requests are marked as non-personalized, and information entered into the finder is not used to build advertising interest profiles. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal information through another channel can contact us using the address below and request its deletion.

5. Consent and Your Choices

A Cookie Policy is a disclosure, not consent by itself. The site banner provides Accept and Reject non-essential choices. Before a visitor selects Accept, or after Reject non-essential is selected, the site does not load Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Pageview, Google AdSense, or Adsterra. Necessary hosting, security, local finder processing, and any first-party session required for a feature remain available.

The Cookie settings control remains available after a choice so that the preference can be reviewed or changed. Changing an accepted preference to rejected reloads the page to stop third-party code that may already be running. Cookies or storage already created by a third party may remain until they expire or are removed through browser or provider controls.

Where applicable law requires additional consent signals, the banner must be used together with the relevant provider controls. Google requires a certified consent management platform for certain advertising served in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. This site-wide banner does not replace that certified platform, which must be configured separately before serving Google advertising to that traffic.

You can also:

  • block third-party cookies;
  • delete existing cookies and local storage;
  • configure a browser to ask before accepting cookies;
  • use private browsing or tracking-protection features; and
  • manage Google advertising choices through Google Ads Settings.

Rejecting non-essential technologies does not prevent the public finder, saved reading progress, or sign-in from working. It prevents the analytics and advertising services listed above from loading. Separately blocking all cookies or local storage in browser settings may affect saved reading progress, sign-in, or other features that rely on browser storage.

6. How to Manage Cookies

Browser controls differ by product and version. Current instructions are available from:

Deleting cookies or local storage may sign a user out and reset saved reading-checklist progress. Browser controls apply to that browser and device, so the same choices may need to be repeated elsewhere.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when site features, providers, browser behavior, or legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date identifies the current version. Because third parties can change their cookie names and retention periods independently, their linked notices should be checked for the latest details.

8. Contact Us

Questions, privacy requests, or concerns from a parent or guardian can be sent to support@rainbowmagicfairyname.online. Please do not include passwords, full payment-card numbers, authentication codes, or unnecessary personal information.
